PRIVATELY OWNED PUBLIC SPACES (POPS) LOGO SUBMISSION

Logo submission titled Respite, designed for the POPS spaces throughout New York City.

Respite:

In the dense, bustling busyness of New York City, it is difficult for one to find a quiet moment of respite in a public space. POPS provide people with an open refuge, a negative space that contrasts the sky-high buildings. The activities that people do in POPS varies as much as the people that visit them. However, one thing all people have in common is the desire to sit. Whether someone has to make a private phone call, meet a friend, cry, have a coffee, or prepare for an interview, the bench, like a park bench, is a universally known welcoming image for one to take a break. It encourages people of all backgrounds and languages to come in, sit, stay a little while, breathe, and get some much needed respite from the unwavering noise and energy of the city. What is a break without a seat?
